What a CCTV installation actually involves
The camera is only the visible part. A dependable result starts with the view you need and includes the cable, power, network, recorder and the way you retrieve footage later.
1. Walk the site
We start with what you need to see, where the useful angles are and what could block them. Entries, faces, vehicles, tills and yards need different views.
2. Design the whole system
Camera positions, cable routes, network capacity, power and recording retention are worked out together. The written quote follows that design.
3. Cable, fit and configure
We run and label the cabling, mount the cameras, configure the recorder and network, then adjust each view in the real lighting on site.
4. Test and hand over
Live view, playback and remote access are tested with you. We show you how to find footage and use the system before the job is handed over.

Comparing CCTV installers
What sits behind the written quote
A small shopfront and a large yard are different jobs. The quote should make clear what is being covered, how it will be cabled and how long the system is meant to record.
Glue IT handles the cameras and the network carrying them. That matters when a fault could be the camera, a cable, power, storage or the network rather than one obvious box.
The main quote factors
- How many separate areas need a useful view - not simply how many cameras fit in a box
- Cable distances, access above ceilings and the route between buildings or outdoor areas
- How much footage needs to be retained and the recording detail required at each position
- Whether the existing network and power can carry the cameras without affecting day-to-day IT
- Any connection to door access, intercoms or an existing camera and recorder system
Before buying a cheap camera kit
Start with the footage you would need after an incident. Check the view at the actual distance, low-light conditions, recorder channel capacity, storage retention, cable routes and whether remote access can be set up without leaving default credentials behind. If those answers are vague, the kit price is not the full job.

What does CCTV installation cost?
Quoted per site, in writing, after a free look - a two-camera shopfront and a warehouse with a yard aren't the same job. No lock-in, servicing month-to-month.
Can you work with the cameras I already have?
Usually. Most modern CCTV is network gear on a cable, so we can often extend, upgrade or take over an existing system rather than rip it out.
Can I watch the cameras from my phone?
Yes - live view and playback from anywhere, on phone, tablet or desktop. Remote viewing is standard on every system we install.
Do you do CCTV for licensed venues?
Yes. For pubs and clubs, CCTV is usually a licence condition with set coverage and retention rules - we design to your conditions. See our pubs and clubs page for the venue package.
What changes the price of a CCTV installation?
The useful coverage needed, cable routes, site access, recording retention, network capacity and any existing equipment all affect the written quote.
What happens during a CCTV site visit?
We walk the areas you want covered, check likely camera positions and lighting, work out cable routes, and look at the network and recorder location. That gives you a system design and written quote based on the actual site.
